Breath control - Meditation techniques and visions

Start by finding a quiet and comfortable setting. 
Sit in comfortable position or lay down. 
Close your eyes and take five to ten deep breaths. 
Then start to slow your breathing. 
Still taking deep breaths slow the process so that it takes increasingly longer to inhale and exhale. 
The key is to avoid panicking and giving in. 
When you feel that you need to breathe faster slowly increase the speed until you feel comfortable in again decreasing speed. 
Instead of taking two steps backwards and one step forward do the opposite. 
Like riding a bike uphill it gets more difficult as you proceed but the outcome is well worth the effort. 
Also like any activity practice makes perfect. 
I am able to slow down to one and a half breaths per minute maybe even one bpm. 
The realizations I get while utilizing this technique are profoundly similar to those attained in altered mind states.
